Note: You will receive your assigned filing frequency in writing from the CDTFA in your registration confirmation documents. The letter is possibly called a “Welcome Letter” or “Filing Instructions”. You should reference this letter if possible. Or you can determine it lonline by following the instructions below.
Review the cadence of the return periods listed to determine the filing frequency. Additionally, review the options below for further assistance in determining your filing frequency
Monthly - a return period is available for each month (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, etc.)
Quarterly or Quarterly Prepay - you will see a return available for calendar quarter periods (Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec). However, you must click on the most recent un-filed return to determine if you are Quarterly or Quarterly Prepay.
Under the I Want To section, if you see “Make Prepayment 1” and “Make Prepayment 2” then select Quarterly Prepay as your filing frequency in Taxually
If you do not see the Prepayment links under the I Want To section, then select Quarterly as your filing frequency in Taxually
Annual - an annual return with an ending period of December
Fiscal Annual - an annual return with an ending period of June
Effective Registration Date (Required for First Return Filing only)
If you do not have a return submission history and require Taxually to submit your first return, then we require your Effective Registration Date. This date can be found on your Seller’s Permit (“Start Date”) or on other mailed registration confirmation documents.
You can find this online in your CDTFA account by:
Click on your Sales and Use Tax account listed on the Accounts tab
Click on the Locations tab
Click the Print Sales/Use Tax Permit button
Provide the Start Date as the Effective Registration Date
Click Submit for Review
Taxually will complete Step 1 of the online Access Request
Taxually will request online access to your Account.
This will trigger a Letter with a Security Code to be mailed to your business location. The letter will arrive in 7-10 business days.
Taxually will inform you when the letter has been initiated and when you should expect to receive it. Please keep an eye out for this letter.
Step 2: Enter the Mailed Security Code:
When you receive the CA letter in the mail, please provide Taxually with the alphanumeric Security Code.
Click Submit for Review
Taxually will complete Step 2 of the online Access Request
Taxually will complete the second step of the online access request with the security code you provide.
Taxually will confirm if the access is successful or contact you if they require additional information.
