Payment instructions are available for returns that are ready for submission or have already been submitted. You can find these instructions in the "My Transactions" section of CrossTax.
Navigate to My Transactions in the left-hand navigation menu
If your return hasn’t been submitted yet, select the "Active TAX Returns" tab - the return will be tagged with “The return is ready for submission.”
If your return has been submitted (you receive an email with proof of filing), select the "Submitted TAX Returns" tab
Find your return in the list
Access Payment Instructions
When you hover your mouse over the payable amount, it will become “Payment Instructions”. Click on it and the instructions will pop up
Make the payment using the instructions provided
Alternative method to access payment instructions
If you've already approved a return and it has moved to the Submitted TAX Returns section, you can still access the payment instructions:
Navigate to My Transactions
Open the Actions Menu
Click on the three dots (⋮) at the right side of the return row to open the actions menu
Select "Access the period overview" from the dropdown
Locate Payment Information
In the period overview, you'll find a section with payment instructions
Pro tip: You can also access the period overview from Data Upload > You have xx open periods
Important Payment Considerations
Payment Deadlines: Payment deadlines may differ from filing deadlines. Always check the specific payment due date in the instructions.
Currency Requirements: Some tax authorities require payment in their local currency. The payment instructions will specify the currency to use.
Payment References: Always use the exact payment reference provided in the instructions to ensure your payment is correctly allocated to your VAT account.
Bank Fees: Consider potential international transfer fees when making payments to foreign tax authorities.

When should I make the payment?
You should make your VAT payment according to the deadline specified in the payment instructions. This deadline may vary by country and sometimes differs from the filing deadline.
Can CrossTax make payments on my behalf?
No, CrossTax handles the calculation and submission of your VAT returns, but you are responsible for making the actual payments to the tax authorities (or fiscal representative account when relevant) using the provided instructions.
What if I can't find the payment instructions?
If after following the instructions above you cannot locate the payment instructions for a specific return, please contact our customer care team for assistance.
Do I need to provide proof of payment to Taxually?
Unless specifically requested, you don't need to provide proof of payment to Taxually. However, we recommend keeping records of all payments for your own accounting purposes and in case of any future inquiries from tax authorities.
