How to approve your tax returns in CrossTax

Modified on Fri, 23 May at 3:27 PM

Reviewing and approving your returns is a quick and straightforward process! To find the returns pending your approval:

  1. Log in to your CrossTax account

  2. Navigate to My Transactions > Active TAX Returns

  3. Here you'll see all returns that haven't yet been submitted to tax authorities

How to review and approve a return

  1. Check the files used for tax return calculation by hovering over the file icons to see file names

  2. Click any file icon to download and review the source data

  3. Review the draft tax return by clicking the three dots (⋮) and selecting Download tax return

  4. For a detailed explanation of calculations, select Download the submission analysis from the same menu: Understanding your Submission Analysis.

  5. When you're satisfied with the return, click the Approve button

  6. After approval, you can view payment instructions by clicking the payment instructions button

Important deadlines

  • Your data must be uploaded and error-free and your calculations must be approved by 23:59 GMT on the 8th calendar day following the end of the reporting period

  • Data pulled through APIs is generally available within the first 3 business days following the end of the period

Auto-approval process

After the data upload deadline, our system will automatically consider that all tax returns have been approved by you and the filing process will begin. This minimizes the risk of late submissions. However, we strongly recommend that you review and approve returns yourself because:

  • You can verify all data is correct before submission

  • You have control over what is being filed with tax authorities

  • You can identify and resolve any discrepancies early

  • You'll be more prepared for any questions from tax authorities in case of audits

If you don't upload data or if your data contains errors preventing full processing by the deadline, we will consider that there were no transactions in the period and prepare your calculations accordingly.

Note that this auto-approval feature can be disabled upon request. However, in this case, your tax returns will not be filed until they are approved by you.

Late uploads

If you upload your data after the period has closed, your returns might not be filed on time. This could result in additional service fees to process corrections on your returns. We do our best to process late submissions quickly, but timely uploads help ensure smooth and on-time filings for your business.
